Sandy's world of Sand castle villages is created and maintained by robots, one of which is Lifty the Sand-Shaper Roboto. This robot is a giant tower-building robot that uses different shaped molds to build the Sand Witch village. His default sand tool is this cone shape, which he fills with sand and uses to shape the rooftops of sand towers.

Early Explorations
ROBOT TOY
Like the Crab Robot, I wanted this Sand Shaper Robot to also be a real-world toy that actually worked as a sand tool. To make this happen, I first built a rough version in 3D, and used that to create concepts describing the function and construction of the prototype I would eventually print. Then I again worked with the 3D print technician to ensure that the robot would print properly, and work as intended, and printed test prints and refined the model until I had a workable first draft prototype.
